Lucifer closed his eyes and winced a bit. It hurt him to know she was worried about something like that. But he did understand where she was coming from. A very, very small amount of people in recent history died of giving birth to a half demon baby. He shook his head. “You won’t. It will just be….a little more difficult and more painful.” He turned to look at her. “I promise you won’t die from giving birth to our child. You will both come out of this healthy and strong.”
She gulped when the words ’ more difficult and more painful’ reached her ears. Her pain tolerance had always been rather low; someone poking her in the arm or ripping off a bandaid always hurt like hell. She could feel the panic attack setting in and she buried her face in her hands, her breath coming in short bursts.
Lucifer took her face in his hands and forced her to look him in the eye, his forehead against hers. “Look at me love. Breathe ,breathe. Shhhh.” he hushed softly. “I won’t let anything happen to you. You must believe me on this. Don’t panic. I will do all in my power to try and make this as painless as possible.”
She locked her eyes with his and began to feel the wave of panic leave her. Lucifer’s soothing and calm tone eased her worried mind and brought her back to reality and nodded. “To have you here with me my Angel is all i really need. I can feel that you are nervous about this too. It’s not going to be easy for you to see me in so much pain….” she said quietly.
“It won’t. It never will.” He said looking into her eyes. “The only thing I will ever want to do is to rid you of any pain. Make them go away and never return. The simple fact I cannot protect you from pain kills me.” The image of Irene screaming in pain flashed in his mind cause him to flinch violently.

It had been the to 30th book she had read since she came to Asgard. Loki insisted that she wasn’t causing any trouble by staying here. He preferred it. The healers and other resources were here in case something went wrong. But she felt quiet lonely. She walked around the castle, the gardens and sat down reading books. Now she talks to the baby. Reading books out loud, hoping the baby is listening. She missed Lucifer. So much. Waking up to an empty beside felt like a kick to the gut every time. Some night she even cried herself to sleep.
Today wasn’t much different. She read her baby fairytales from the Grimm Brothers while stroking her he small baby bump. She froze when the familiar voice hit her ears. Immediately, tears flooded her eyes. She put her book down and turned to see the source of the voice. It was him. Her fiance. The father of her child standing at the door. “Where have you been?” she whimpered quietly.
Lucifer hung his head in shame as he walked further inside the room. He always mad her cry. Why? Why does he always have to make her cry. He knew apologies wouldn’t cut it this time. He even considered not coming at all. There would be no chance in hell she would forgive him after he walked out on her. Left her alone to deal with everything herself. He was beyond grateful for Loki keeping her hear and watching over her.
“I’m sorry Nora.” he said quietly. “There are no other words that I can say to tell you how sorry I am.” He knelt down one knee, he head still down. He didn’t deserve to look at her. “I’m a coward. And you don’t deserve a coward.” he said. “I know you won’t ever forgive me, I know i wouldn’t. But i’m here now, and i promise you, I will never leave you again Nora.”

She looked at Lucifer and then at the candle. Peering closer at it, the wax had bits of multicolored flecks in it that caught the light when he turned it in his hand. “Wow….” she whispered.
“I never really thought I would use this. Since I didn’t think I’d be having any children at all, I never saw myself leaving and going into rest. But now I do and I have someone to do it with. I am almost 3000 years old. I’m an old man. And it’s slowly starting to show. I don’t want to stay here anymore than I need to. But I don’t want to be alone up there. I want to end my life with you by my side.”
Irene gazed at Lucifer. She often forgot who he really was and his true age. It was times like these when her memory was refreshed and it made her think of all those centuries he spent utterly alone. But now….to have him say those words touched her deeply.. “I would never want you to be alone, Lucifer….not ever again, my love.” she murmured, pulling him close
Lucifer smiled. “Thank you my star.” He leaned in to give her a loving and passionate kiss. “I’ll put this candle somewhere safe. These are very rare. The last thing we want is to lose it or get it stolen.” he said. He took out a small cherry oak box and placed the candle inside. “There.” he said, fastening the lock. “Safe and sound.”

Lucifer walked through the halls of Asgard’s castle slowly. Trying to come up with a good apology. He had been absent from Nora for weeks now after she told him she was pregnant. And he just left her. Without an answer. Loki and Kris tried to talk to him in seeing Nora but he wouldn’t listen. He was scared. Which for a while, resulted in him being angry at Nora for letting this happen. He later realized it wasn’t her fault. It was his. He wasn’t careful. He was so caught up in the romance of it all. Despite what Loki and Kris said, he knew this pregnancy was going to strain Nora’s body. At the end, he hated himself. He left the woman he loved alone and scared. He ran like a coward. She didn’t deserve that. He didn’t deserve her.
He stood in front of her bedroom door. The guards at the door didn’t stop him. They probably knew he was the father. Taking a deep breath, he opened the door quietly. He poked his head into see if Nora was inside. The large bed was empty. But the a figure caught his eye, making him look to the window. There she was. Sitting at the window and with a pot of tea and reading a book out loud. Her hand was on her already quiet swollen tummy. Not wanting to frighten her, he gently knocked on the door. “I hope i’m not disturbing you.” he said when she jumped and whirled her head around to look at him.

“I can hardly wait love.” Lucifer smiled kissing her head. “We will be happily married and spend or long life together. Oh! I have a gift for you, well for both of us actually.” he said. He dug into his pocket and pulled out a black candle.
She raised her brows. “A gift?” She watched him pull a black candle from his pocket. “What’s this for, love?”
“The end.” he smiled. “When you and I have had enough of this world, our children have found their place, we light the candle and we can leave to sit among the stars.”
Lucifer frowned when a shiver coursed through her. “Of course my love. Ask me anything your heart desires.” he said, worried about what her question would be.
She took a deep breath and chewed her bottom lip nervously. “This child….our child….i-i-is there a chance it will be part demon?” She looked up at him.
Irene’s question got Lucifer nervous. Would she reject the child if it was? Love it even more if it was? Lucifer gulped and nodded. “It will be half demon. No doubt about that.”
She swallowed, feeling his concern. “Lucifer, I will love our child regardless of what it is because of the simple fact that it is OUR child. That is not what I fear…” she paused and looked up at him. “I’m afraid that I will not survive giving birth. I am scared our child will kill me.”
Lucifer closed his eyes and winced a bit. It hurt him to know she was worried about some like that. But he did understand where she was coming from. She sipped her tea. “Nothing special, babe. I got up, made coffee, did some housework……oh speaking of, the hedges in the backyard need some care before the wedding as do the flowerbeds. How about yours, my angel?”
“Productive.” Lucifer replied sipping his tea. “Did some paper work, castle and prison checks, lunch with the generals and other important people. The usual boring stuff.” Those were just the good bits. Lucifer didn’t want to tell her the more detailed stuff.
She nodded and sipped her tea. “Sounds like a routine day in the Pit, my love.” She wrapped an arm around him and pulled him close, leaning her head on his shoulder. “Just think…in a short two weeks, we’ll be a Mr. and Mrs.” she said with a smile.
“I can hardly wait love.” Lucifer smiled kissing her head. “We will be happily married and spend or long life together. Oh! I have a gift for you, well for both of us actually.” he said. He dug into his pocket and pulled out a black candle.

Lucifer rubbed her back gently. “I’m still in a bit of shock…. but i’m happy. You’re going to be a mother…… and I a father.” he smiled. The thoughts of raising a child filled his head. One of the one few joys in life he always envied from humans.
She smiled at the thought. She placed a hand on her tummy and looked at him. “I still can’t believe we’re gonna be parents, my love! And I just cannot wait to meet this little one.” Her mind swam with happy thoughts of the future, and she burst out in excitement, “I’M GONNA BE A MOMMY!!”
Lucifer laughed, feeling her excitement run through him. He was glad to see her so happy. “Yes you are! And you’ll be a great mommy too.” Lucifer smiled, pulling her in for a kiss.
She kissed him back and smiled. “And you’ll be a daddy, Lucifer. And a fantastic one at that.” she mused, pulling him close. An anxious thought flashed in her mind, making her shiver. “My love…..I must…..ask you something….”
Lucifer frowned when a shiver coursed through her. “Of course my love. Ask me anything your heart desires.” he said, worried about what her question would be.
